CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - UNC Asheville had two men's tennis players participate this past weekend in the ITA Regional that was held at UNC Chapel Hill.

Freshman Adrien Langerd and sophomore Matt Waisen played in both singles and doubles during the tournament.

Langerd split a pair of matches. He won his opening round match against Michael Nichol of Presbyterian, 6-3, 6-3. Langerd then fell to Joe Schaeffer of Davidson, 6-2, 6-4.

Waisen battled hard against William Parker of North Carolina before falling in three sets. The scores were 2-6, 7-6, 6-4.

In doubles action, the duo almost pulled off an upset of ninth-seeded Rob Biziak and Wesley Moran of Clemson. The Clemson duo just slipped past Langerd-Waisen, 8-6.

"This was an excellent experience for Adrien and Matt to play in this type of tournament," commented Bulldog assistant coach Tom Hand. "Both of them were exposed to a higher level of tennis, and it was good for them to get this kind of exposure.

"I thought both of our guys played well against some tough competition that will only make them better," added Hand.

The men's team will finish up the fall season at the Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. from Oct. 30-31.
