ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's and women's Indoor Track and Field teams are back in action this weekend at the Liberty Fast Times that will begin Friday night and then run all day on Saturday.

This weekend's action is the second event for both Bulldog squads. UNC Asheville opened the season last Saturday at Appalachian State with some very good results. Junior sprinter Natalie Pearson finished first in the 200 meters and second in the 55 meters.

Highlights in the distance events from the women's squad came from freshman Emma Bussard, who finished in second place in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:04.

Morgan Weeks set a personal record in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.89.

In field events, Corrie Trotter came in fifth in the high jump with a jump of 1.52 meters. Leading the way for the men's team in sprint events was senior Dane Corriher. He finished fourth in the 400 meters with a school-record time of 49.98.

“I was really pleased with how we performed for the most part last weekend,” stated second-year coach Jesse Norman. “We came back from the holidays in good shape and it showed at Appalachian.”

Norman is looking for continued improvement this weekend.

“We had some areas that we would like to improve at Liberty,” commented Norman. “This weekend will be a good test for our squads as there will be some good teams participating in the meet.”
