Bulldog Tennis Teams to Compete in ETSU Fall Classic

ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's and women's tennis teams will participate in the 25th Annual ETSU Fall Classic in Johnson City, Tenn. on Saturday and Sunday.

The two-day event will take place at the Buddy Hartsell Tennis Complex on the ETSU campus and at the Mathes Tennis Center at nearby Milligan College.

The ETSU Fall Classic is a large tournament that includes 25 teams and approximately 300 matches.

Head coach Lise Gregory believes this weekend's event will provide her team with a great deal of match experience as it prepares for the spring season.

“It's a good tournament,” said Gregory.  “The players get a lot of matches, so we will get a lot of practice out of this weekend.”

As a fall event, this competition will feature individual tournaments instead of the dual team matches that occur during the spring.

Gregory would like for her players to achieve strong results in the competition, but she ultimately looks for her players to improve their skills in a tournament setting.

“Winning breeds confidence, so you would love for them to come out of the tournament with a lot of confidence having won some matches,” said Gregory.  “At the same time, our number one goal is to get better.”
