DURHAM, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's and women's track team had some strong performances at the Duke Invitational that was held at Wallace Wade Stadium this weekend.

 

“We had some good work against some extremely strong competition,” commented UNC Asheville coach Jesse Norman. “Everyone who went and competed, contributed and gave a great effort.”

 

Senior Omar Ahmad made a strong showing in the triple jump as he finished in 10th place against some tough competition. He had a jump of 13.39 meters.

 

Erik Nabi continued his good season in the javelin with a toss of 50.69 meters.

 

Daniel Corriher had a throw of 13.89 meters in the shot put and 43.30 meters in the hammer throw.

 

Brandon Hamilton did a good job in the 400 Hurdles as he finished with a time of 57.88.

 

Andrew Burnett posted a time of 51.36 in the 400 meters. Duane Stepp had a time of 53.86 in the 400. Adam Matthews ran a time of 4:18 in the 1500. Matt Holman finished with a time of 2:00 in the 800.

 

On the women's side, Corrie Trotter had a leap of 1.55 meters in the high jump.

 

Katie Olert posted a time of 5:21 in the 1500 and 2:34 in the 800. Senior Ingrid Allstaedt ran in the 800 and had a time of 2:26. She also competed in the 1500 and posted a time of 5:01. Elizabeth Duncan ran a 2:23 in the 800.
