BOONE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's and women's Indoor Track and Field squad will participate in the Appalachian Limited Open Indoor Meet this weekend at the Holmes Center. The action begins Friday at 3:30 p.m.

Both Bulldog teams had good results last weekend at VMI. Emily Mase finished first in the mile and took second in the 800. On the men's side, Andrew Burnette finished in first place in the mile.

“We had a good meet at VMI for both teams,” stated first-year coach Jesse Norman. “Hopefully we can build on those results at Appalachian State this weekend. We need to keep getting better each week and peak at the end of the month at the Big South Conference meet.”

Seven other schools will visit the High Country for the meet, including Lee University, UNC Charlotte, Mars Hill College, Milligan College, Montreat College, SC State University and Queens University.

The competition begins with the 55-meter hurdles and 55-meter dash before closing out the sprints with the 300-meter dash.

All track events will be held at the Holmes Convocation Center. Meanwhile, the jumps and throws will take place at nearby Varsity Gym. Field events include pole vault, high jump, shot put and weight throw.

Though times may vary, the track events will take place in order, and women's events will be held before men's.
