Women's Basketball Hosts Mars Hill in Exhibition Game on Thursday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville women's basketball team plays its first and only exhibition game on Thursday night when the Bulldogs host local foe Mars Hill at Justice Center starting at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WISE Radio (1310-AM) and video-streamed at www.bigsouthsports.com on The Edge for a small fee.
UNC Asheville is coming off an injury-plagued 12-18 season. The Bulldogs played with just seven healthy players for much of last year.
“We're a team with no superstars, but we can be successful if we come with an unselfish mindset and high energy on the defensive end,” commented Blose.
Senior guard Ana Baker and forward Jessica Monroe return and will be counted as leaders for this year's club. Baker averaged 8.0 points per game and needs just 48 steals to become the all-time leader in that category.
Blose looks for a tough game from Mars Hill. The Lions went 15-13 last year.
“Mars Hill is very well-coached team that has some good players,” declared Blose. “We're going to have to play well to have a chance to beat them.”
UNC Asheville opens the 2008-09 season by hosting a tournament next weekend. The Bulldogs welcome
