Women's Basketball Hosts South Carolina

ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville women's basketball team is back in action this Saturday afternoon when the Bulldogs host South Carolina State at Justice Center starting at 2 p.m. The game will available via video-streaming for a small fee at www.bigsouthsports.com.

Saturday's game starts the UNC Asheville's Super Saturday Package where fans can get tickets to all eight of the Bulldogs' Saturday games for just $25. At each Saturday game, fans can enter to win a Nintendo Wii Console and Starter Kit, which will be given away on Feb. 21.

UNC Asheville (1-4) picked up its first win of the season on Monday night as it led from start to finish in defeating Montreat, 64-58. Sophomore guard Chiomi Okoli led the Bulldogs with 22 points. Okolia leads Asheville in scoring this season with a 13.8 average.

South Carolina State (0-3) is looking for its first victory of the 2008-09 campaign. SCSU played at Big South foe Gardner-Webb on Monday and lost 81-74. 6-4 junior center Marie Reed leads South Carolina State in scoring with a 16.0 average.

“We're going to have to play well to win,” commented UNC Asheville coach Betsy Blose. “South Carolina State has a talented team and presents a lot of challenges to us.

“We were glad to get the win against Montreat on Monday,” added Blose. “We played well in spots but obviously can play better.”
