Coastal Carolina Edges Bulldogs, 1-0 in Men's Soccer

CONWAY, S.C. ? Big South power Coastal Carolina got a goal in the 55th minute and that was enough to edge UNC Asheville, 1-0 in Big South Conference men's soccer action Tuesday afternoon at CCU Field.
The Bulldogs (4-7-1, 2-3-0 BSC) battled the league-leading Chanticleers on even terms for the entire match but just couldn't score.
Asheville and Coastal Carolina finished with eight shots each. The Chanticleers out-shot the Bulldogs, 6-4 in the first half. Asheville had a 4-2 advantage edge in the second half.
Robert Hunter of Coastal Carolina picked up his fifth goal of the year at 55:18 to break the scoreless tie and put the Chanticleers in front, 1-0.
Scott Szymanski had two shots in the 69th minute but had one shot blocked and the other was just wide.
The Bulldogs had one more attempt late in the match when Patrick Tate's shot just missed with 30 seconds remaining.
Asheville plays again at home against Winthrop Saturday afternoon starting at 2 p.m.
