Wigginton Hits .285 with Houston in 2008

He helped lead a late surge by
Ty finished the season by tying his career high for hitting with a .285 average. He was third on the Astros in home runs with 23. The former Bulldog shortstop finished with 22 doubles and 58 RBI. Wigginton only played in 111 games and was sidelined by injuries early in the year as he broke his thumb and then late in the year with a groin injury. The 23 home runs was just one off his career high of 24 set in 2006 with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Wigginton led Major League Baseball in August with 12 home runs and was named Co-Player of the Week on August 18.
