CHAPEL HILL, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's and women's Indoor Track and Field squads will be in action on Saturday at the Carolina Invitational.

The Bulldogs plan to bring about 12 athletes from each team. First-year coach Jesse Norman is looking forward to the second meet of the year for his young team. Asheville competed at Appalachian State last month.

“We're looking forward to seeing how we do after the holidays,” explained Norman. “We're not able to take a full team to Chapel Hill as we're still in the process of getting some kids back but this will be a good test for the ones that do go to see how they're doing and how much work they have to do.”

Natalie Pearson had a great opening meet at ASU last month. The sophomore sprinter finished first in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.08. She then finished a close second in the 200-meter dash with a time 25.43.

On the men's side, the highlight of the day was senior Jon Harmon finished second in the mile with a time of 4:28. Matt Holman placed third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:04.11.

Asheville competes next weekend at the prestigious Niswonger Invitational at East Tennessee State (Jan. 18-19).
