Men's Soccer Rallies for 3-3 Tie With Presbyterian

ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? Scott Szymanski scored two second-half goals as UNC Asheville rallied for a 3-3 tie with visiting Presbyterian Tuesday afternoon at Greenwood Field.

“We did a good job battling back in the second half and had chances to win,” stated UNC Asheville coach Steve Cornish. “However, we did not play well in the first half and Presbyterian made us pay dearly for every mistake we made.”
UNC Asheville opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Caleb Alexander knocked in his first goal of the year off assists from Szymanski and Ryan Haupt.

The pressure finally paid off when Szymanski scored at the 59:08 mark off a pass from Ryan Haupt to cut the lead to 3-2.
Eight minutes later, Nathan Neal found Szymanski again. The junior forward ripped in a shot from 10 yards out to knot the score at 3-3.
Each team had chances to win toward the end of regulation and each overtime period. Neal just missed on a shot from 15 yards in the final minute of regulation. A header from Alexander was stopped by PC goalkeeper Mark Owens early in overtime.
The Blue Hose had some chances as well as Edmonds just missed ending the game in the final minute of the first overtime period as Asheville goalkeeper Michael Pereira stopped Edmonds from just in front of the goal.
