Bulldog Cross Country Squads Perform Well at South Carolina

FORT JACKSON, S.C. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's cross country teams opened up their seasons with impressive performances at the Gamecock Invitational at Hilton Field.
The Bulldog men's squad took a fifth-place in the 5K event with 115 points, while the women's team took sixth with 158 points.
Senior Emily Mase posted a time of 18:26 and finished in fifth place to spark the women's squad. Andrew Burnette turned in a time of 16:21 and came in eighth place.
Adam Matthews came in 16th spot for the men's squad at 16:58, while Joel Quirk finished 25th at 17:36. Matt Holman came in 32nd with a time of 18:01. Duane Stepp finished in 34th at 18:07.
Senior Ingrid Allsteadt took 15th at 19:10 on the women's side. Liza Duncan came in 38th at 20:05, while Katie Olert finished in 47th at 20:43. Emily Becker finished in 53rd with a time of 21:13.
The Bulldogs have two weeks before hosting the Big South Pre-Conference Meet at Jackson Park on Friday, Sept. 14th starting at 5:30 p.m.
