Kevin Mattison Makes All-Star Team in Coastal Plains League

EDENTON, N.C. - UNC Asheville outfielder Kevin Mattison has been named to the Coastal Plains League All-Star team on Wednesday. Mattison has been playing for the Edenton Steamers this summer and enjoyed an excellent season. He will be one of 24 players on the National squad that will play in the All-Star game in Columbia, S.C. on July 17.
The rising senior outfielder leads the league in homers with nine and has driven in 18 runs. He has three doubles and leads the club in stolen bases with 17. He helped lead Edenton to the first half title of the North Division.
The Kernersville native enjoyed a solid season for the Bulldogs this past year as he hit .274 with six homers, 28 RBI and set a single-season record for triples with eight. He is the school's all-time leader in triples with 19. Mattison was second on the team in stolen bases with 12.
