Men's Tennis Falls in First Round of Big South Tournament

RADFORD, Va. - The third-seeded Charleston Southern Bucs defeated No. 6 seed UNC Asheville, 4-0, in the first round of the 2007 Big South Men's Tennis Championship Thursday afternoon at the Virginia Tech Indoor Courts in Blacksburg, Va.
Charleston Southern jumped on top 1-0, taking the doubles point. Charleston Southern's Steven Dean and teammate Chris Peek downed Loic Hereson and Joseph May, 8-3 at No. 2. At No. 3, Buc netters Jonathan Dean and Babar Akbar defeated Damien Snare and Nicholas Thuell.
In singles action, Quentin Guichard downed Hereson, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1. Peek won at No. 3, 7-6, 7-5 over Maueicio Correa. Steven Dean wrapped the match up with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Tyler Begg.
With the win, Charleston Southern improves to 12-8 overall and moves on to the semifinals were it will play Radford at 1:00pm on Friday, April 20. UNC Asheville finishes it season with a 5-11 overall record.
