Asheville (5-4) is coming off its highest scoring game of the season an 87-54 victory over Presbyterian. Big South Rookie of the Week Lindsey Montgomery had a season-high 16 points and 15 rebounds. She was one of four Bulldogs to record a double-double in the game on her way to her second Rookie of the Week award for the season.
Ashton Barton continues to lead the Dogs in scoring at 13.9 points per game. She had 13 points against Presbyterian. Ana Baker is sixth nationally in steals and 28th in Division I in assists. She is second on the team in scoring and leads the Big South in both assists and steals. Baker tied a school record with 11 assists against PC and has had double-figure assists in two games already this season.
“The Presbyterian game was a good win for us,” said Asheville head coach Betsy Blose. “We hadn't played in a week and we got solid efforts from a number of players. Campbell is a good team that has a strong inside game. It will be a challenge for our post players who played so well against PC to guard a bigger team.”
Campbell (4-4) is playing its first game in 13 days, a 71-47 loss at High Point. The Camels are playing their fourth-straight Big South opponent having beaten Charleston Southern and losing to Coastal Carolina and High Point. Maggie Rich leads the team in scoring at 12.9 points per contest. She is the leading three-point shooter on the team hitting on 19-of-39 (49 percent). Marlena Murphy is averaging a double-double with 12.7 points and 10 rebounds per game. As a team, the Camels are scoring 60.9 points per contest.
Campbell has dominated the all-time series owning a 25-5 record against Asheville with most of those games being played while Campbell was a member of the Big South Conference. In recent history the teams have split the last two meeting with each team winning on its home floor. Campbell won last year's meeting 81-73 while Asheville took a 64-60 victory two years ago.
