CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- Liberty's Moriah Frazee has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women's Basketball Player of the Week, while Lindsey Montgomery from UNC Asheville was tabbed New Balance Freshman of the Week, the League announced today.
Montgomery, a forward from Shelby, N.C., put in a career-high 16 points and came away with 15 rebounds as the Bulldogs downed future Big South foe Presbyterian 87-53 on Dec. 8. She connected on 8-of-13 field goals for a 62-percent clip and recorded 11 of her 15 rebounds on the offensive glass. The double-double marks the second of her young career. Montgomery was also named Freshman of the Week on Nov. 27.
Frazee, a junior forward from Xenia, Ohio, posted 17 points per game and shot 83-percent from the floor to lead the Lady Flames to a 2-0 record on the week. She got things going with 17 points on 7-of-9 from the floor and 3-of-6 from the charity stripe to go along with six boards and two assists in Liberty's 79-66 win over James Madison on Dec. 4. Four days later against Binghamton, she stayed hot as she shot 88-percent from the field, connecting on 7-of-8 of tries while adding three free throws to finish with 17 points and six boards as the Lady Flames downed Binghamton, 76-40.
