CHARLOTTE, N.C.?UNC Asheville freshman Lindsey Montgomery was named the Big South Conference New Balance Freshman of the Week while Liberty's Megan Frazee was tabbed as the Choice Hotels Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.
Montgomery, a forward from Shelby, N.C., recorded 11 points per game and shot 56 percent from the floor in helping the Bulldogs to a 2-1 record on the week. She got her week started with 14 points on 7-of-9 from the floor, chipping in six boards, one assist, one block and one steal in Asheville's win over Furman on Nov. 20. Three days later against North Carolina A&T, she put in six points, grabbed five rebounds and two steals. She closed the week out with 13 points, six rebounds and two blocks as the Bulldogs downed UNC Greensboro on Nov. 24. For the week, she posted 17 rebounds and a 71 percent clip at the line.
Montgomery and the Bulldogs will return to the court on Wednesday as Asheville travels to Western Carolina for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
