Women's Basketball Signs Two

ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? UNC Asheville Women's Basketball Coach Betsy Blose has announced the signing of Lindsey Thompson and Katie Wise to national-letters-of-intent on Wednesday.

Thomas is a 5-9 shooting guard from Floyd County HS in Floyd, Va. Last season, she scored 14 points, grabbed four rebounds, dished out three assists and had three steals per game for Floyd County. She was a first team All-District performer and earned second team All-Region and All-State honors. Thomas is also a volleyball and track and field standout.

“We are excited Lindsey Thompson has joined our program,” stated Blose. “She comes from a winning high school and AAU program, and we are anxious for her to bring that winning mind-set to UNC Asheville. Lindsey is a great shooter and fierce competitor. She is a winner both on and off the court.

Wise is a 6-3 post player from South Rowan HS in China Grove, N.C. She averaged 14 points, nine rebounds and four assists per game last season for South Rowan. Wise is also a member of the Carolina Crush AAU Program.

“Katie Wise's size and strength will add an important ingredient to our continued success,” declared Blose. “She had the capability to play facing the basket or playing with her back to the basket. Katie has a nice touch and can shoot the three. Her best playing days are ahead of her.”
