ROCK HILL, S.C. - Daniel Revivo's goal in the 98th minute gave Winthrop a 2-1 overtime victory over visiting UNC Asheville, Wednesday night in Big South Conference men's soccer action.

The Bulldogs (2-11-1, 0-6-0 BSC) struck first on a goal by junior Scott Szymanski in the 20th minute. John Hillman's through ball down the middle of the field set up Szymanski with a one-on-one with Winthrop keeper Patrick Mitrovich and Szymanski drilled a shot from 12 yards out into the corner for his sixth of the season.

Asheville led 1-0 at halftime as Bulldog goalkeeper Phillip Horner kept the defending Big South champs off the scoreboard.

In the 54th minute, Revivo and Stephen Nsereko teamed up for the first Winthrop goal of the game as Nsereko beat a couple of Bulldog defenders and sent the ball into the box as Revivo ran on to it and his one touch shot found the back of the net.

UNC Asheville had several chances in the game, two of which came in overtime just 13 seconds apart. The first chance was a shot from Hillman around the 18-yard box, but Mitrovich made the save. The second chance came from Nathan Neal as he broke free to Mitrovich's right and ripped a shot from about 10 yards away that just missed the far post.

The Eagles were able to get the win when they were awarded a corner kick and Nsereko stepped in to take the free kick. Nsereko's service was flicked on by Sean Weron and redirected by Revivo's head into the net for his second of the game and 11th of the season. It was the ninth game-winning goal of his career.

UNC Asheville plays again this Sunday afternoon when the Bulldogs travel to Appalachian State for a 2 p.m. match.
