ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Alisha Dill led three Coastal Carolina players in double figures with a game-high 20 points as the Chanticleers snapped UNC Asheville's six-game winning streak, 73-61 at the Justice Center on Saturday.

Dill scored 17 points in the second half as the Chanticleers (10-6, 1-2 Big South) built upon a 30-25 halftime lead.

Ashton Barton lead UNC Asheville (11-7, 2-1 Big South) with 19 points going 7-for-14 from the floor. Amanda Elder had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Bulldogs who suffered their first loss since Dec. 21.

"I didn't think we did a very good job defensively tonight," said Asheville head coach Betsy Blose. "We had opportunities to get back into the game but could not get stops when we needed them and we did not take advantage of the turnover we created. Give Coastal a lot of credit they played well and beat us tonight."

Coastal shot 46 percent from the floor, 56 percent in the second half while Asheville shot 43 percent from the floor. The Chanticleers were 4-for-7 from three-point range and 21-for-28 from the free throw line. Coastal made eight more free throws in the game than the Bulldogs attempted.

Asheville led early using a 5-0 run to build a 9-4 advantage. The Dogs lead 15-11 at the 9:27 mark before Coastal used a strong defense to hold the Bulldogs scoreless for the next six minutes and seven seconds. Coastal used a 9-0 run to lead 20-15 before Rachel Williams lay-up with 3:20 left in the half ended the drought.

Calisha Yates who had 14 points in the game made the final basket of the half to give the Chants a 30-25 lead at the break.

A Dill basket and a tip-in by Victoria Blanchard, who had 15 points and 10 rebounds, put Coastal up by nine.

Asheville cut the lead to five points, 37-32, with 14:46 left on a lay-up by Elder but the Bulldogs could not get any closer. The Chanticleers answered with an 8-2 run to go up 45-34 with 11:03 to play. Coastal's largest lead was 16 points, 67-51 at the 1:59 mark. CJ Ware who came into the game as a 57 percent free throw shooter went 6-for-6 from the line in the final two minutes to secure the win for Coastal.

Asheville will be back in action on Tuesday night as it wraps up a three-game home stand against Charleston Southern at 7 p.m. Coastal returns home on Monday to host Birmingham-Southern at 5 p.m.
