MACON, Ga.- The UNC Asheville women's basketball team arrived in Macon, Ga., on Thursday as it prepares for the Mercer Blade Holiday Classic. The Bulldogs will face Kennesaw State on Friday at 4 p.m. and Mercer on Saturday at 3 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on uncabulldogs.com.

The Bulldogs are 5-6 on the season but 0-4 away from the Justice Center after falling at Chattanooga in their last game. Kennesaw State is 4-6 on the year after defeating Austin Peay 56-49 on Dec. 19, and Mercer is 1-9 having dropped its last six games.

Amanda Elder leads the Big South Conference in free-throw percentage hitting on 80 percent of her free throws. She ranks in the top ten in nine of the 12 individual catagories kept by the conference. Ashton Barton continues to lead the team in scoring averaging 13.9 points per game. Elder is next at 12.4 points and a team-high 8.7 rebounds per game. Brittany Hendley who had a team-high 16 points at Chattanooga leads the team on the road averaging 13.8 points per road game.

Kennesaw State has wins over Morgan State, Winthrop, Mercer, and Austin Peay this season. Rosetta Hollis leads the team averaging 12.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Jennifer Baker contributes 10.6 points and 2.4 assists per contest. The Owls average six made three-pointers per game and are out rebounding their opponents by 5.8 boards per game.

Mercer's lone win was a 48-47 victory over Bethune-Cookman. The Bears do not have a player who averages double-figures as the team is only averaging 44.7 points per game. The Bears have scored more than 50 points twice in 10 games. TaShera Lewis leads the team at 7.9 points while Nicole Leonard is scoring 7.8 points and 5.8 rebounds.

Asheville has never faced Kennesaw State and is 0-2 all-time against Mercer. The Bulldogs and Bears have not played since the 1996-97 season when the Bears took a 55-51 victory in Macon. The only other meeting was a 71-70 Mercer victory in Asheville during the 1995-96 season.
