BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's tennis teams picked up victories at Gardner-Webb Thursday afternoon. The men's team won their seventh straight match with a 7-0 victory, while the women's squad edged Gardner-Webb, 4-3.

"We picked up two good victories at Gardner-Webb," commented Asheville coach Chase Hodges. "Our men's team is really playing well right now. Our women's team has done a great job this year picking up close victories and they did it again against Gardner-Webb."

In the men's match, the Bulldogs easily captured the doubles point and then won all six singles match to get the win. UNCA got three-set victories from Julien Vulliez and Maurico Correa. Asheville improved its record to 11-2 with the win.

The women's team picked up the doubles point as the teams of Natasha Lucki-Rachel Rhoney and Whitney Abbott-Rachel Poole each won their match by an 8-6 score. In singles play, the Bulldogs got victories from Mary Katherine Fitzgerald, Lucki and Rhoney to earn the victory. UNCA upped its record to 11-5 on the season.
