ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team captured the doubles points and that proved to be the difference as the Bulldogs edged Radford, 4-3 in Big South Conference women's tennis action Friday night at the Asheville Racquet Club.

The match was scheduled to be played Saturday afternoon but was moved indoors due to the threat of rain in the Asheville area on Saturday. Asheville (8-3, 1-1 BSC) got singles victories from Natasha Lucki, Rachel Rhoney and Morgan Martin and the earned the doubles points with two wins. Whitney Abbott and Rachel Poole won their match, 8-5 and Lucki-Rhoney won their match, 8-4.

The men's match with Radford scheduled for Saturday afternoon was postponed. The teams will try and get a new date to play sometime soon.

"This is a great win for our program," commented Asheville coach Chase Hodges. "This was a very tight match and we manage to get the job done. I'm very pleased that we pulled this match out."

The Bulldogs play next Sunday (March 6) when they host Longwood University at the UNCA Tennis Center starting at 11 a.m. Radford plays at Winthrop Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
