Leah Metcalf joined UNC Asheville Women's Basketball as an Assistant Coach on Sept. 1, 2026.

Metcalf spent last season as an Assistant Coach and the Recruiting Coordinator at Fordham, after being elevated from Assistant Coach and Director of Operations after the 2024-25 season.

Prior to Fordham, she was briefly the interim head coach at Charlotte after being elevated from her Director of Scouting and Recruiting role during the 2023-24 season. Metcalf was previously the head girls basketball coach at Charlotte Christian School from 2021-23 and was an assistant coach in 2020-21.

Metcalf played 13 professional seasons across Europe and Australia from 2007-20, where she was a four-time Most Valuable Player for top division teams. Metcalf was also a four-year starter at the University of North Carolina, scoring over 1,000 career points and dishing out over 500 assists in her career. Her accolades in a Tar Heel uniform include being the ACC’s Preseason Rookie of the Year in 2001-02 and an All-ACC Freshman Team selection in that same season. She was also an ACC Tournament Team selection in 2003 and a Team Captain from 2003-05. She was a member of the All-ACC Academic Team all four years, and also received the Athletic Director’s Scholar-Athlete award in 2005. She was a member of a 2002 NCAA Sweet 16 team, and an ACC Championship team in 2005 that reached the Elite Eight.

Metcalf holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from North Carolina.
