Abigail St. John has been hired as the new Director of Athletics Marketing, announced today (Monday, Dec. 26) by Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone.

"We are excited to welcome Abby to our external team," said Cone. "Providing our student-athletes with an engaging game day atmosphere and continuing to connect with people in the community are two key factors that we are striving for, and Abby's skill set will continue to enhance those two areas."

St. John comes to Asheville after serving as a marketing and fan engagement graduate assistant for the athletic department at Eastern Illinois University. At EIU, she was involved in executing promotion and marketing efforts, as well as being an internship coordinator and developing the student section's social media. She was also engaged in broader community outreach marketing, including the EIU Kids Club.

St. John will graduate from EIU with her master's in Sports Administration in May 2024.

St. John graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor's in Sports Management and a minor in Business in 2020. Post graduation, St. John became involved with the Chicago Red Stars as a Sales and Fan Services Associate, where she planned events and created virtual themed nights for fans and ticket holders. She briefly returned to the Red Stars in May 2023 as a Seasonal Street Team Associate, which involved representing the Red Stars at various local events and distributing marketing materials to local businesses.

"I am so excited for Abby to join our external team and the impact she is going to make on the marketing department," added Kassi Butcher, Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Communications. "Her energy and creativity will help elevate the game-day experience and continue to grow our presence in the community."
