Jonny Wangrin enters his first year at UNC Asheville as the Director of Soccer Internal Operations. Wangrin played soccer since he was 4 years old and he grew up in Marrietta, GA and played club soccer for United Quest/Atlanta Silverbacks and for Lassiter High School. He won 5A Georgia High School State Player of the Year Award during Senior year in 2005 and attended West Virginia University in 2005 as a scholarship Men’s Soccer player before knee surgery forced his retirement from college soccer.
Wangrin is currently finishing his Business degree from University of Alabama and plans on starting on his Master’s degree in Sports Management in the summer of 2016. In addition to his work with the Bulldogs, Wangrin currently coaches at Highland Football Club and has been with the club for 3 years. He holds a USSF National “D” License and National Youth License, and will be attending a USSF National “C” License course in November.
