Mattie Webb is in her first year as a volunteer assistant coach with the UNC Asheville cross country and track and field programs. Mattie comes to UNC Asheville after recently graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2016 with a master’s degree in Global Studies. Webb is also a 2014 alumnus of North Carolina State University, where she completed her undergraduate degree in History while competing on the cross country and track and field teams.

After graduating from NC State with Summa Cum Laude honors in the spring of 2014, she moved on to UNC Chapel Hill to pursue her graduate studies and compete for the Tar Heels. While at UNC, the two-time letter award recipient competed on the cross country and track and field teams. Webb specialized in cross country, representing the Tar Heels at the ACC Championships and the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional. In 2014, she helped her team win an ACC Cross Country Championship title. On the track, Webb competed in the 5K and 10K and represented UNC at the 2016 ACC Outdoor Championships.

During Mattie’s career, she posted all-time personal bests of 10:01 (3,000m), 17:04 (5,000m), 21:47 (6,000m xc) and 35:54 (10,000m).  Before college, the Crozet, Virginia native attended Western Albemarle High School. It was there that Mattie became a 2011 Footlocker Finalist and earned Central Virginia Runner of the Year honors.  When not coaching, Webb is training and competing with the Jus’ Running post-collegiate team. Her most recent showing was a win at the 2016 Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon in Savannah.
