UNC Asheville Announces Bryan McDonald as Club Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — UNC Asheville has announced Bryan McDonald as head coach of the Asheville men's lacrosse club team, bringing more than two decades of coaching experience and a background in player development, strategic game planning and team leadership.

McDonald has coached lacrosse since 2005, working with athletes ranging from 10U through varsity levels. His coaching experience includes serving as a middle school coach at IC Imagine in Asheville, where he currently coaches, as well as coaching positions with Empire Lacrosse, Sacramento Sting, PQ Lax in San Diego, Lindenhurst in New York and Patrick Henry High School in San Diego.

During his time with Empire Lacrosse, McDonald coached 14U and JV teams across consecutive seasons, emphasizing team culture, skill progression and team cohesion. He has also developed comprehensive game strategies and individual developmental plans while providing private training focused on technical skill development for youth players.

"His extensive coaching background at multiple levels, combined with his commitment to player development and strategic preparation, will be a tremendous asset to our program as we build a  premier collegiate club lacrosse program and culture here in the heart of  Asheville." 

McDonald's coaching career includes experience with Sacramento Sting as a JV coach in 2021, PQ Lax as a youth coach from 2014-17, Lindenhurst as a middle school coach in 2009 and Patrick Henry High School as a JV and varsity assistant coach from 2005-06.

McDonald holds an Associate of Science in Psychology from Mesa Community College in San Diego, Calif.
