UNC Asheville Tennis Teams Earn Academic Honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association

TEMPE, Ariz. - The UNC Asheville Men's and Women's Tennis programs have both earned academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), announced by the organization today (Monday, July 13).

Both of UNC Asheville's teams received All-Academic Team honors, with the men's program earning the distinction for the fifth straight year and the women's team earning the honor for the 19th straight season. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, a team must have a grade point average of at least a 3.2 for the entire year.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.5 grade point average for the current academic year. The following UNC Asheville student-athletes were named Scholar-Athletes:

Cooper, Fuks and Mens each earned the award for the first time in their careers, while Gray, Ingles and Kolbe each earned the award for the second time in their careers.

"Our team puts a lot of work in on and off the courts and these guys continue to be great student-athletes," said head men's tennis coach Dustin Hale. "They represent everything that we look for in Bulldog athletics."

Centeno and Sager earned the honor all four years at UNC Asheville, while Hug earned the honor for the third time in her career. Gregg, Segui and Brandon all were first-time honorees.

"I am so proud of our girls for their commitment to academics!" said head women's tennis coach Jeff Maren. "Our entire roster works so hard to excel in the classroom, and this is a testament to the effort and passion that they possess!"
