Paul Kiprotich Named Big South Freshman of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Freshman Paul Kiprotich of the UNC Asheville track & field team has been named Big South Conference Men's Freshman of the Week for his performance at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Friday (Jan. 17). The league made the announcement on Thursday (Jan. 23). 

Kiprotich, in his first collegiate 3000m, broke the school record with a time of 8:19.63. The record was previously held by Adam Hessler at 8:22.15. Kiprotich's 3000m time is the fifth fastest time in the Big South this season. 

Kiprotich and the Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 1, when they compete in the Gamecock Challenge hosted by South Carolina.
