Charlie Farrar Makes History Earning Fourth Consecutive Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week Honor This Season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer senior goalkeeper Charlie Farrar has made history, earning his fourth consecutive Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season. The announcement came from the league today (Monday, Sept. 16).

Asheville went 2-0-0 last week with a 1-0 win over Wofford on Tuesday (Sept. 10) and a 3-0 win at Davidson on Saturday (Sept. 14). The pair of clean sheets extended Asheville's current shutout streak to four matches.

Farrar picked up two more clean sheets and two more wins on the week with four saves, becoming the first player in program history to be a part of four consecutive shutouts dating back to last week's 0-0 draw at Bellarmine (Sept. 7) and the team's 3-0 win over VMI back on Sept. 1.

In addition to being the first Big South men's soccer player to earn four consecutive Player of the Week honors in a single season, Farrar is also the first Big South men's soccer player to earn five weekly honors in a row dating back to Oct. 30, 2023.

This is Farrar's fifth career Big South Conference Player of the Week honor. He is a native of Wakefield, U.K.
