Danielle Marante Announces 2024 Volleyball Schedule

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – With excitement building for the upcoming season under first-year head coach Danielle Marante, the UNC Asheville volleyball team's 2024 schedule has been released.
The Bulldogs kick off their season Sept. 5-7 at the University of West Georgia Tournament before Asheville's home opener against Western Carolina inside the Justice Center on Sept. 10. The Bulldogs will compete in the Maryland Eastern Shore Tournament Sept. 13-15 and travel to Charlotte on Sept. 17, before opening Big South Conference action on Sept. 27 against USC Upstate.
Asheville's final nonconference match will be against Middle Tennessee State University on Oct. 22. The Bulldogs compete in 14 Big South Conference matchups with an even home and away slate. Asheville's final home contest will be against USC Upstate on Nov. 15. Last season, Asheville split its home and away series with USC Upstate, securing three points in the Ingles I-26 Rivalry.
Asheville will host back-to-back Big South weekends with Winthrop on Oct. 4, Gardner-Webb on Oct. 5, Radford on Oct. 11, and High Point on Oct. 12. High Point won the 2023 Big South Conference Championship, defeating Winthrop 3-2 to advance to the NCAA Tournament. Winthrop finished second in the league, and Gardner-Webb finished third.
The Bulldogs hit the road for the third week of conference action, as Asheville faces Presbyterian on Oct. 18 and Charleston Southern on Oct. 19. Asheville defeated Presbyterian on the road last season. Following the Bulldogs' midweek action with MTSU, the Bulldogs travel to High Point on Oct. 25 and Radford on Oct. 26.
Asheville opens the month of November by hosting Charleston Southern on Friday and Presbyterian on Saturday, Nov. 2. The Bulldogs' final conference road trip will be at Gardner-Webb on Nov. 8 and Winthrop on Nov. 9 before returning to Asheville for the regular-season finale against Upstate.
The top six teams in conference standings will advance to the Big South Conference Championship, which will be held Nov. 22-24 at High Point University.
"The team is excited to get this season started," said Marante. "We are looking forward to building on the valuable training we had this past spring. Our schedule allows us to get multiple tournaments and challenging nonconference competitions before we head into Big South Conference play. We welcome everyone to come out to Justice to support these ladies this fall."
