Bulldogs Conclude Competitive Day One at Montreat Open

MONTREAT, N.C.— UNC Asheville track and field was back in action on Friday as the Bulldogs traveled down the road to compete in the Montreat College Open. Twenty-five Bulldogs competed in six events on Friday, with more to compete on Saturday.
ASHEVILLE'S TOP FINISHES
Emma Kennett grabbed the Bulldogs' top finish of the day with a second-place finish in the 3000m steeple. Kennett finished with a personal best of 11:33.44 and was followed by Alyx Beausoleil, who earned a sixth-place finish with a PR of 12:33.61.
In the men's 1500m, Brock Newsome earned a sixth-place finish at 4:00.78. On the women's side, Ella Moore also recorded a sixth-place finish at 4:51.54, and Sophie Lundin grabbed a 10th-place finish at 4:54.70.
In the final track events of the day, Asheville competed in the 5000m, with Quinn Jacquez earning the top finish on the men's side at 12th in a time of 15:59.43 and Madeline Wittschen crossing the line in 11th (19:30.40) for the women.
Jaelyn Arnold earned Asheville's highest finish in the field events, finishing fifth in the women's shot put with a distance of 11.45m (PR).
Maya Dulaney led the women's long jump with an 11th-place finish at 4.99m, and on the men's side, Gabriel Matthews led Asheville with a 15th-place finish at 6.16m.
Christina Jones finished 13th in the discus throw at 33.04m.
