02.08.2024 | Cross Country
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The UNC Asheville men's and women's cross country teams earned spots on the USTFCCCA list of All-Academic Teams. The USTFCCCA made the announcement on Thursday, Feb. 1.
The Asheville men were awarded this accolade after securing a 3.22 cumulative team GPA, and the women posted a 3.55 cumulative team GPA through the 2023 fall semester. This is the eighth time in 10 years that the Bulldogs have made this list.
The Bulldogs can add this most recent award to their already successful 2023 season. Three Bulldogs broke school records between August and November, with the men's second-place finish at the Big South Conference Championships being the highest team finish for the program since their second-place finish in 1998. Head Coach Adam Puett was named the Big South Men's Coach of the Year, the first time a coach has received this award on the men's side in program history.
"I am very proud of the hard work that both our men's and women's teams put into the classroom," Puett said. "They are the true definition of student-athletes."
To earn an All-Academic Team honor, the team must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at the end of the most recent semester and have competed in the NCAA Regional Championships.
