Brendan Herb Earns Second Consecutive College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® First Team Honor

GREENWOOD, Ind. - UNC Asheville graduate student midfielder Brendan Herb has earned his second consecutive College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® First Team honor, announced by the organization today (Tuesday, Dec. 10).
 
A First Team selection in 2023, Herb becomes first student-athlete in UNC Asheville history to earn CSC Academic All-America honors in back-to-back years. He is the 11th CSC Academic All-America selection in school history and the fourth for the men's soccer program. Herb is also the first Big South Conference men's soccer player to earn back-to-back First Team Academic All-America honors since Fraser Colmer of Radford in 2016 and 2017.
 
Serving as team captain, Herb played and started in all 15 matches this season, leading the team in goals with six and also contributing two assists for a team-best 14 points. He scored goals at Davidson (Sept. 14), ETSU (Sept. 24), at Presbyterian (Sept. 22), at Longwood (Oct. 26) and twice in the Big South Conference Tournament quarterfinal against Longwood (Nov. 6). He tallied assists against Davidson and also in the Big South Conference tournament quarterfinal against Longwood. For his play he was named to the Big South Conference All-Conference Second Team this season as well as the Big South Conference All-Tournament Team. Herb holds a 4.0 grade point average in economics.

We could not think of anyone more deserving due to their well-rounded approach to being an elite level student-athlete. He continues to lead our program as a captain in every facet. The imprint Brendan has made on the UNC Asheville Men's Soccer is colossal and will continue on for the next generation to now strive for in their time with the program. Our staff is beyond proud of him!"
