Farrar Earns Second Straight Goalkeeper of the Year Award, Six Bulldogs Named All-Conference

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Senior goalkeeper Charlie Farrar has earned his second straight Big South Conference Goalkeeper of the Year honor, while six total Bulldogs were named All-Conference, announced by the Big South Conference today (Tuesday, Nov. 5).
 
Farrar was selected to the All-Conference First Team along with his Goalkeeper of the Year honor, while Brendan Herb, Edvin Grolimund, Myles Edmondson and Benian Yao were named to the All-Conference Second Team and Heath Flathau was named to the All-Academic Team.
 
Farrar played to a 7-3-4 record in 14 starts this season, ranking second in the league in minutes at 1222:10. He leads the Big South Conference in both goals against average (.736) and save percentage (.815), while also ranking fifth in saves with 44. He also leads the league in shutouts (five) as Asheville has posted a Division I era program record with six shutouts on the season. Farrar has been named Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week four times this season, becoming the first Big South Men's Soccer player to earn four consecutive weekly honors in a single season and the first Big South Men's Soccer player to earn five weekly honors in a row, dating back to last season.
 
This is Farrar's second career Goalkeeper of the Year honor and second career First Team All-Conference selection. He is a native of Wakefield, United Kingdom.
 
Herb played and started in all 14 matches this season, totaling nine points off four goals and one assist including going 2-2 on penalty kicks. His four goals are tied for ninth in the Big South Conference, while he was named Big South Conference Offensive Player of the Week once this season.
 
This is Herb's second career All-Conference honor. He is a native of Corvallis, Ore.
 
Grolimund played and started in all 14 matches this season, totaling one goal and four assists for six points. His four assists are tied for fifth in the conference.
 
This is Grolimund's first career All-Conference honor. He is a native of Arlesheim, BL, Switzerland.
 
Edmondson played and started in 13 matches this season, scoring one goal and adding two assists for four points. He was on the back line for five of of Asheville's six shutouts on the year.
 
This is Edmondson's second career All-Conference honor. He is a native of Oldham, Manchester, United Kingdom.
Yao has appeared in all 14 matches this season, making 10 starts on the back line. Being on the back line for all six of Asheville's shutouts on the year, he has tallied two goals for four points including one game-winner.
 
This is Yao's first career All-Conference honor. He is a native of Waxhaw, N.C.
 
Flathau has appeared in all 14 matches this season, making five starts. In the classroom he posts a 3.98 grade point average in Health and Wellness promotion.
 
This is Flathau's first career All-Academic Team selection. He is a native of Hattiesburg, Miss.
