Brendan Herb and Benian Yao Earn Big South Conference Men's Soccer Weekly Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer fifth year midfielder Brendan Herb and senior defender Benian Yao have earned weekly honors from the Big South Conference, announced by the league today (Monday, Oct. 28). Herb was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week, while Yao was named Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Asheville posted two Big South Conference wins last week, beating Presbyterian 2-1 on a late goal on Tuesday (Oct. 22) and blanking Longwood 4-0 on Saturday (Oct. 26) for the team's sixth shutout of the season to set a Division I era program record.
 
Herb scored a penalty kick goal in the win over Presbyterian and a goal in the win over Longwood to bring his season total to four.
 
This is Herb's second career Player of the Week honor. He is a native of Corvallis, Ore.
 
Yao played all 90 minutes in the win at Presbyterian, while also scoring a goal and playing 85 minutes on the back line in the win over Longwood.
 
This is Yao's second career Player of the Week honor. He is a native of Waxhaw, N.C.
