Cross Country Sweeps Big South Freshman of the Week Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second time this season, the UNC Asheville men's and women's cross country teams have swept the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week awards, as Paul Kiprotich and Aneta Kucerová's efforts this past weekend earned them league honors.
The announcement was made by the league office on Wednesday.
In his second collegiate meet and first collegiate 8k race, Kiprotich had an exceptional finish, taking third place with his personal best time of 24:22.5 at the USC Upstate Invite this past Saturday. His time broke the freshman record by 14 seconds (24:36.4).
This is Kirpotich's second time earning freshman of the week honors; he earned the award on Sept. 18.
Kuĉerová helped lead the women's team to a third place finish and finished fourth place individually with a personal best time of 17:57.5 in her first collegiate race. Kuĉerová was the fastest freshman of the day to cross the finish line.
The Bulldogs will next compete in the Big South Conference Championships on Friday, Nov. 1, in Charleston, South Carolina.
