ANNUAL CELEBRATION ON THE COURT EVENT SET TO TAKE PLACE SEPTEMBER 28

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Athletics announced the annual "Celebration on the Court" presented by Kimmel & Associates will be held on Thursday, Sept. 28. This annual event is the ceremonial 'tip-off' to basketball season in Asheville!
The event will take place on the floor of Kimmel Arena beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a 'happy hour' sponsored by the Omni Grove Park Inn. During this happy hour, alcohol beverages, other refreshments, and dinner food will be available for guests. At 6:30 p.m., the program portion of the event will begin with the highly-anticipated unveiling of men's basketball's 2022-23 championship banners from the rafters.
After the banner unveil, the remainder of the program will focus on head coaches Mike Morrell and Honey Brown, as well as each of their respective teams. We will spotlight each of the young men and women who will be representing the Bulldog Blue this year on the hardwood. Both teams will have high expectations heading into what is sure to be another season to remember.
Honorary Bulldog Debbie Antonelli will be back to serve as the emcee. A college basketball analyst for thirty years, Antonelli has worked with CBS Sports on the NCAA Men's Tournament for the last six years, becoming the first female analyst in 22 years to call a men's "March Madness" game in 2017. Additionally, Antonelli serves as an analyst on ESPN, the ACC Network, Westwood One Radio, and has also been an WNBA analyst for over 25 years.
Prior to her television days, Antonelli was a three-year starter for North Carolina State where she helped guide the Wolfpack to four NCAA Tournament appearances and two Sweet 16 appearances. Two summers ago, Debbie Antonelli was inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame which celebrates extraordinary athletic achievement and leadership.
