UNC Asheville Athletics Hosts Annual ‘Welcome Back’ Celebration on Sunday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville Athletic department kicked off the 2023-24 academic year with its annual 'Welcome Back' program in Kimmel Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Athletic Director Janet R. Cone welcomed a school record 296 student-athletes to campus. In addition to remarks by Cone, Interim Chancellor Dr. Kimberly van Noort and Big South Commissioner Sherika A. Montgomery also spoke to the Bulldogs as they prepare to begin another academic year.
"Our welcome back program is always a wonderful way to open another year of Bulldog Athletics," Cone said afterward. "I want to personally thank Chancellor van Noort and Commissioner Montgomery for coming to speak to our student-athletes. Both had inspiring words that I hope will help fuel our Bulldogs to another great year!"
