2023 UNC Asheville Volleyball Schedule
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team released its 2023 schedule on Tuesday. Asheville, which will be led by first-year Head Coach Amber Haver, is scheduled to play 28 matches this fall with 12 of those contests to be played at the Justice Center.
"We couldn't be more excited to head into season," said Haver. "We have a lot of work to do in preseason, but our goal is GROWTH, every rep, every practice, every play. We have a moderately tough schedule ahead, but I'm confident that this new Bulldog family is ready to put in the hard work that it will require to be successful."Â
Asheville will open the 2023 campaign with four matches in two days at the Justice Center. The Bulldogs will open the season on August 25 with matches against Alabama A&M and Maryland Eastern Shore. On the following day, Asheville will wrap up the first weekend of the season with tilts against North Carolina Central and a rematch against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Following their home-opening weekend, the Bulldogs will face off against four straight Southern Conference opponents. Asheville will travel to Furman on August 30 before returning home to host the Paladins on September 1.
The Bulldogs will head back out on the road on September 5 for a rivalry match at Western Carolina before wrapping up their tour of the Southern Conference on September 8 with a neutral site match against The Citadel in Charlotte. A day after its matchup with The Citadel, the Bulldogs will match up with Marshall and South Carolina State in Charlotte.
In the final week before conference play begins, the Bulldogs will travel to Georgia Southern on September 12 before returning to North Carolina for a pair of matches against Charlotte and UNC Greensboro in Greensboro on September 16.
Big South play will begin the following weekend when the Bulldogs make the short trip to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on USC Upstate on September 23. Asheville will close out the month of September with home matches against Presbyterian and Charleston Southern on September 29-30.
Asheville will begin the month of October with five straight road matches. The Bulldogs will travel to Radford (October 6), High Point (October 7), Gardner-Webb (October 13), Winthrop (October 14), and Middle Tennessee State (October 17) before returning home.
Five of Asheville's last seven matches will be played at the Justice Center. The Bulldogs will host High Point (October 20), Radford (October 21), Winthrop (November 3), Gardner-Webb (November 4), and USC Upstate (November 11) with trips to Charleston Southern (October 27) and Presbyterian (October 28) mixed in.
