ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently released its academic honors for the 2023 spring semester. For the 22nd consecutive semester, the UNC Asheville swimming & diving team was named a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team. Furthermore, Delaney Carlton (First Team), Mikaela Fullerton (Second Team), and Abby Parks (Second Team) all earned Scholar-All-America honors individually.

As mentioned previously, it marks the 22nd straight semester that the Bulldogs have been named a Scholar All-America Team. Teams qualify for the Scholar All-America Team recognition if they have a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher for every student-athlete who competed in the designated semester. The Bulldogs finished with a collective GPA of 3.57 last spring.

"Being named a Scholar All-America Team for the 22nd consecutive semester is an outstanding achievement for this program," said UNC Asheville Head Coach Elizabeth Lykins. "The team's dedication to their studies and commitments as student-athletes continue to impress. This accomplishment could not have been done without the help of Rebecca Nelms, Assistant Athletic Director of Student-Athlete services, and Dr. Jeff Wilcox, our Faculty Athletic Representative."

Individually, Carlton, Fullerton, and Parks all repeat at CSCAA Scholar-Athletes. By competing at the NCAA Championships, Carlton is the first Bulldog to earn First Team honors. To be named to the First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must achieve a minimum GPA of 3.50 and participate in their respective national championship. Second-Team selections also earned a GPA of 3.50 or higher and met the "B" time standard for the national championship or participated in a diving zone qualification meet.

"Naming three members to this list is the highest accomplishment our program has reached in our 11 year history," said Lykins. "Delaney, Mikaela and Abby are incredible representatives of our team and deserving recipients of this high recognition."
