ASHEVILLE, N.C. -Â UNC Asheville's student-athletes put together a solid Spring 2023 semester in the classroom, announced today (Wednesday, May 17) by UNC Asheville Athletics.
"In athletics, success is frequently measured by the scoreboard, tape or stopwatch," said Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success Rebecca Nelms. "It is equally impressive to see what these same students are doing in the classroom. The breadth of their excellence shows up in research and community service, but a GPA is a snapshot everyone can see and measure their successes in classrooms."
The department's 16 athletic programs and 238 student-athletes combined for a 3.26 grade point average, with 171 student-athletes maintaining at least a 3.0 through the semester to be named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll. 79 student-athletes were named to the Dean's List for posting a semester GPA between 3.5-3.99, while 34 student-athletes made the Chancellor's list with a 4.0.
