CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Big South Conference announced Thursday (Apr. 27) that Solomon McDonald had been named Big South Field Athlete of the Week and Zac Weas had been named Big South Track Athlete of the Week.

McDonald broke his school record in the men's outdoor shot put with a throw of 18.46 meters at the Georgia Tech Invitational to take first place in the event. A week prior to his performance at Georgia Tech, McDonald broke the school record at the Catamount Classic with a throw of 18.28 meters. McDonald holds the Asheville school record in the indoor and outdoor shot put, and now holds the third-best outdoor throw in Big South history after his throw at Georgia Tech.

Weas took third place at the Georgia Tech Invitational in the 110-meter hurdles with a blistering time of 14.14 seconds. Weas' time ranks second all-time in the Asheville record book for this event. Weas has improved his personal best in this event in three out of four meets he has competed in this season, shaving his 14.39 time to start the season by .25 seconds.

Weas, McDonald and the rest of the Bulldogs will finish off their seasons at the Big South Outdoor Championships in Rock Hill, S.C. on May 10.
