FULL ATLANTIC SUN CONFERENCE RELEASE

ATLANTA, Ga. - UNC Asheville senior swimmer Abby Parks and junior diver Morgan Coughlen have once again swept the weekly awards for Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Swimming and Diving, announced by the league today (Tuesday, Dec. 19).

Both Parks and Coughlen made an impact in UNC Asheville's 192-108 win over Georgia Southern last weekend (Dec. 15-16).

Parks picked up two individual wins in the meet, while also being a part of two winning relay teams. She anchored the first place 200-medley relay team with a time of 23.42 seconds, while also swimming as the second leg of the winning 200-free relay with a time of 23.49 seconds. She posted a win in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.25 seconds, while also winning the 100-yard freestyle in 51.64 seconds.

"Abby had a great meet over the weekend," said head coach Elizabeth Lykins. "It's a tough time to compete having just completed exams and already started winter training. But she stuck to her race strategy and pulled off some very impressive times!"

This is Parks's second career Swimmer of the Week honor. The Matthews, N.C. native is a double major in accounting and economics.

Coughlen logged two second-place finishes in the one-meter events against Georgia Southern, logging a personal best 236.78 in the first event before setting a new personal best and a program record in the second event with a mark of 246.15.

"Competing right after exams is quite a challenge," said diving coach Matthew Macon. "From the first dive, Morgan was able to get into the competitive mindset. She had a great meet setting a new personal record during the first round of competition and then improving upon that in the second round to set another personal record and our new school record."

This is Coughlen's second career Diver of the Week award. The Frisco, Texas native is a biology major.

The Bulldogs (6-1) return to action on Jan. 6 at Gardner-Webb in Atlantic Sun Conference action.
