ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Associate Athletic Director Colin Smith will represent UNC Asheville Athletics on the Asheville Buncombe Regional Sports Commission board.
The Asheville Buncombe Regional Sports Commission (ABRSC) was formed in 2010 by a group of civic-minded leaders to bring more sporting events to the region.
With a strong community focus, the Sports Commission is led by a diverse board of directors representing varied community interests. Their work revolves around improving the health and quality of life of Asheville and Buncombe County residents while simultaneously enhancing the community's economic vitality through sports tourism.
The Sports Commission staff works with event organizers, on both a local and national scale, to showcase the Asheville community and its sports venues as potential hosts for upcoming events. As part of his role, Colin will become part of the ABRSC's mission to identify and attract sports events to help enhance the quality of life of local residents and generate a positive economic impact through the promotion of the region.
Smith joined the athletics staff in 2019 as the Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations, Director of Game-Day Operations, and Director of Diversity & Inclusion.
"I am grateful and honored to serve on the Asheville Buncombe Regional Sports Commission's board," says Smith. "I look forward to collaborating with this group of distinguished committee members and being an ambassador by representing UNC Asheville on the board."
