ATLANTA, Ga. - UNC Asheville senior swimmer Abby Parks and junior diver Morgan Coughlen have swept the Atlantic Sun Conference's weekly awards for women's swimming and diving, announced by the league today (Tuesday, Nov. 14). Parks was named the Women's Swimmer of the Week, while Coughlen was named the Women's Diver of the Week. Â

This past weekend at VMI's quad meet also featuring UMBC and Howard, Parks won the 50-yard freestyle in a season-best 23.54 seconds, currently the third-best time in the ASUN. She also won the 100-yard freestyle in a season-best 51:21, which also is third-best in the ASUN currently. She was the anchor of a second-place 200-yard medley relay team with a split of 23.32, and also was the anchor of a winning 200-yard freestyle relay team with a split of 23.33.
Â
This is Parks's first career Swimmer of the Week honor. The Matthews, N.C. native is a double major in accounting and economics.
Â
"Abby had an outstanding meet on Saturday," said head coach Elizabeth Lykins. "She was able to execute her race strategies to earn a few season-best times. We are excited to watch Abby compete at our mid-season invite this weekend."
Â
Coughlen won events on both the three-meter and the one-meter dives over the weekend, posting personal bests in both events. In a field of 14 women's divers, Coughlin scored a personal-best 236.40 on the three-meter to win the event while also hitting a personal best of 231.30 to win the one-meter event.
Â
This is Coughlen's first career Diver of the Week award. The Frisco, Texas native is a biology major.
Â
Our divers had one of our best meets ever with nine personal-best scores," said diving coach Matthew Macon. "Junior Morgan Coughlen led the way, winning both the 1M and 3M events and resetting her own personal records. It's always exciting to set personal bests and this is motivation to increase our difficulty and our scores midway through the season."
Â
The Bulldogs return to the water this week, with the divers at the Tennessee Invitational (Nov. 15-17) and the swimmers at Queens's Fall Frenzy Invitational (Nov. 17-19).
