ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Andy Lapple has been hired as UNC Asheville's new Director of the Outdoor Sports Complex, announced today (Wednesday, Oct. 25) by Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone. Â
"Andy will be a great addition to our staff in promoting the use of our Outdoor Sports Complex and helping us continue to build relationships in the local community and region," said Cone. "We are excited for him to help us dream bigger and achieve more with our Outdoor Sports Complex and create an economic impact for our community."
Lapple comes to Asheville after a year and a half as the Assistant Director of Athletic Facilities and Operations at Dartmouth College, where he managed the use of Dartmouth's Alumni Gymnasium. Lapple started his time at Dartmouth as the department's Financial Operations and Travel Specialist, working with all of the Big Green varsity sports programs.
Prior to Dartmouth, Lapple was the Athletic Contest Coordinator at Maine Maritime Academy and also the Events and Operations Coordinator at Southern New Hampshire University.
"I am excited to get started with the Bulldogs in this new position," said Lapple. "I am thankful for the opportunity that Janet Cone has entrusted me with and look forward to building new relationships and creating new experiences. It was easy to see that developing a positive culture within UNC Asheville athletics is a high priority and that was something that drew me to this position. I can't wait to meet everyone in Bulldog Nation!"
Lapple holds a Masters of Sports Administration from Ohio University (2023), a Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Athletic Administration from Husson University (2020) and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Colby-Sawyer College (2014).
