Benian Yao Named Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE. N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer junior defender Benain Yao has been named the Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league today (Monday, Oct. 2).
Yao scored his first Asheville goal as the game-winner, while helping the Bulldogs to a clean sheet in a 1-0 win at Longwood on Saturday (Sept. 30) in their only match last week.
This is Yao's first career Player of the Week honor. He is a native of Waxhaw, N.C.
The Bulldogs (6-3-1, 1-1-0) return to action on Friday (Oct. 6) at Gardner-Webb in Big South Conference action. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. from Greene-Harbison Stadium in Boiling Springs, N.C., with video and live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
