Volleyball unveils its 2022 schedule

2022 VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Head Volleyball Coach Frederico Santos announced his team's 2022 schedule on Monday afternoon. The 26-match slate includes 13 home matches at the Justice Center.
Coming off a 6-19 season in 2021, the Bulldogs will open the 2022 campaign with five straight home games. First, Asheville will host the UNC Asheville Invitational on August 26-27. During the Invitational, the Bulldogs will take on Stonehill, North Alabama, and Queens University of Charlotte. After the opening weekend of the season, the Bulldogs will remain home to host Western Carolina on August 30 and Lees-McRae on August 31.
The following weekend Asheville will make the short trip to Greensboro, N.C. to take part in the UNCG Tournament on September 2-3. Asheville will match up against Georgia Southern, South Carolina State, and host UNCG that weekend.
The Bulldogs will wrap up their non-conference schedule shortly after that with home-and-home matches against Chattanooga. Asheville will host the Mocs on September 7 before it travels to Chattanooga on September 14.
Asheville's conference schedule will look a little different than in the past. The Bulldogs will host and travel to the other eight schools in the Big South this fall. After hosting Winthrop (Sept. 22) and Radford (Sept. 23) to begin league play, the Bulldogs will play four straight road matches at USC Upstate (Sept. 30), Gardner-Webb (Oct. 1), Presbyterian (Oct. 7), and Charleston Southern (Oct. 8).
Closing out the month of October, the Bulldogs will host High Point and Campbell on October 14-15 before venturing back out on the road to Radford and Winthrop on October 21-22. Asheville will then have a streak of four straight matches at home against Gardner-Webb (Oct. 27), USC Upstate (Oct. 28), Charleston Southern (Nov. 4), and Presbyterian (Nov. 5) before finishing up the regular season with matches at Campbell (Nov. 11) and High Point (Nov. 12).
The top four teams in the Big South standings at the end of regular season will advance to the 2022 Big South Volleyball Tournament on November 19-20. The tournament will be played at the Millis Center on the campus of High Point with the winner receiving the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Volleyball Tournament.Â
